About the Department
Educational Sciences Department in our university was established in 2016 with the Higher Education Council (YÖK)’s decision of "Restructuring the Education Faculties.” The general aim of our department is to offer our prospective teachers a high quality education with interdisciplinary approach and train them to become researchers, problem solvers and analytic thinkers. For this reason, our students are provided with the opportunity to attend conferences, conduct scientific research, participate in and organize in-class and out-of-class activities. The Department of Educational Sciences also provides teachers and education specialists the opportunity to pursue graduate studies in the fields of Curriculum Development and Instruction, Educational Administration and Planning and Guidance and Psychological Counseling. These programs aim to train teachers and education specialists who will contribute to the development of the TRNC and to take part in the international competition with entrepreneurial, creative, interdisciplinary studies and projects.
The Department of Educational Sciences has two full-time professors, an associate professor, an assistant professor and three instructors. Our students study in classrooms which all have smart boards. We have a guidance and psychological laboratory where students can make individual and group counseling. This laboratory has been specially designed for lecture courses such as Individual Psychological Counseling and Group Psychological Counseling and Psychological Tests. The laboratory is divided into two sections with a mirror and equipped with suitable fixture. In addition, there is a drama room for our students to perform drama and creativity activities.
